For established scientists to investigate and develop new ideas in the field of breast cancer research. Scientific innovation forms the framework for all Campaign’s research; small pilot grants therefore will be awarded if it can be clearly identified that support is for a new direction of research for researchers to test hypotheses for up to a year to provide sufficient data for a full application to Breast Cancer Campaign.
It is expected, in general, that a small pilot grant will be used to fund a discrete piece of research and will not be supplemented from other sources. Campaign will fund up to £20,000 for each small pilot grant for up to one year.
The applicant must have a proven track record in their own scientific field and be employed in a UK research institute.
Applications can be made in March and September each year. Breast Cancer Campaign’s Scientific Advisory Board will review them internally and the final decision made within eight weeks of initial application at the May and November grant meetings respectively.
