Project grants

Project grants should be undertaken by scientists who have gained their PhD but are yet to secure long-term funding or tenure. Applicants must have conducted independent research in the field of breast cancer and wish to build on their history and reputation in this area, deepening their knowledge and experience.

The funding is awarded for a clear research proposal of relevance to breast cancer and is expected to lead to a significant advance of understanding of prevention, detection, treatment or biology of breast cancer. These awards should expand the levels of knowledge and expertise in breast cancer research in the UK.

Breast Cancer Campaign is committed to supporting young investigators in breast cancer research and therefore encourage applications from talented, new post-doctoral researchers.

Project grants rarely exceed £65,000 per annum.

Grant application procedure

Project grants are awarded in May and November*.

Grant application deadlines

* The funding of PhD studentships takes place once a year in the November round. The funds that Campaign will have to support this scheme will be separate from the monies allocated to the project grant programme, therefore there will be equal funds for the project grant awards in both the May and November rounds.
