Title

Use of MUC1-specific M-CSF-responsive T-Cells for breast cancer

Synopsis

Dr Maher is looking to develop a new treatment based on using the body's own immune system to fight breast cancer.

Aims & Goals

The project aims to develop a novel cellular immunotherapy for treatment of patients with disseminated breast cancer.

Updates

Dr John Maher and Dr Scott Wilkie at Guy's Hospital, have been developing a way in which our own immune system can be used to fight breast cancer. They have identified a molecule that specifically targets breast cancer cells. When the cells in the body's immune system have this molecule on their surface they can recognize and kill breast cancer cells that they would of otherwise ignored.
