Title

The effect of intermittent vs. chronic energy restriction on breast cancer risk biomarkers

Synopsis

Overweight women especially those who are postmenopausal are at greater risk of developing breast cancer. By loosing weight these women would reduce their risk. Dr Harvie will look to see if a particular form of dieting is more effective at reducing breast cancer risk.

Aims & Goals

This study is testing whether strict calorie restriction for just 2 days/week has a better effect on weight loss and levels of hormones and cancer causing substances and is easier to follow than a moderate calorie restriction over each day of the week. This study will tell us the best ways to lose weight to reduce breast cancer risk.
