Genome-wide RNAi to identify genes that confer synthetic lethality with BRCA1

Synopsis

This project could identify a new way to treat breast cancer by selectively killing cancer cells whilst leaving health cells intact, resulting in fewer side effects for the patient.

Aims & Goals

"Our work aims to identify genes or pathways that when inactivated confer synthetic lethality in combination with BRCA1 mutations. Ultimately this work may lead to treatments that selectively kill tumour cells."
