Identification of breast cancer susceptibility genes by mutational screening of candidate genes from DNA Repair pathways
Professor Rahman is looking to identify genes involved in repairing damaged DNA to see if these genes are responsible for genetic predisposition to developing breast cancer.
Professor Nazneen Rahman and Patrick Kelly at the Institute of Cancer Research, Surrey have been looking at new genes which are linked to breast cancer. They have designed tests to look at 35 genes that they believe may be linked to breast cancer development and are currently looking to see if women with a strong family history of breast cancer have faults in any of these genes.
