Title

Cancer risk and therapy outcome: A mechanistic link to CYP1B1 polymorphism.

Synopsis

By studying the properties of a specific gene called CYP1B10 in the cell, the results of this project may in the future help identify individuals with an increased risk of breast cancer and also patients which will benefit from treatment with certain breast cancer drugs.

Aims & Goals

"My work will help to identify individuals with an increased risk for breast cancer and those which are susceptible to anti-cancer chemotherapy".

Updates

Dr Thomas Friedberg and PhD student Euan Polson at the University of Dundee have spent the first 18 months of this PhD studentship preparing breast cancer cells lines in the laboratory so that can look at whether a protein called CYP1B1 influences how quickly breast cancer spreads.
