The role of DNA repair genes in radiosensitivity and breast cancer predisposition
If an oncologist could predict which patients were likely to develop adverse reactions to radiotherapy, doses of this treatment could be lowered in those cases. There may be an underlying genetic cause for this radiosensitivity which may also be a contributing factor in the development of late onset cancer. This research could lead to a diagnostic test.
