Title

Molecular pathology of sporadic breast cancer

Synopsis

Until now, the molecular changes that underlie tumour growth have remained largely unknown. Molecular technology advances now available will enable this project to evaluate such molecular changes in large numbers of tumours in relatively few experiments. Identification of complex molecular events will ultimately improve diagnosis of breast cancer and enable individualisation of treatments.

Aims & Goals

My work aims to identify some of the many molecular alterations in breast cancer and to identify correlations with treatment and patient survival. In this way, we hope that we will eventually be able to treat patients based on the profile of molecular alterations in a patient’s tumour as well as pathological and clinical features.
