Title

Sialyl Tn and the immune response in breast cancer patients

Synopsis

The study will focus around MUC1, which is found in 90% of breast cancer cells. MUC1 made by breast cancers is different because it carries unusual sugars. Of particular interest is Sialyl Tn, a sugar only found on MUC1 in cancers.

Aims & Goals

The primary aim of this project is to synthesise a new cancer vaccine which would be used to stimulate an immune response to destroy an already existing cancer.
