Our campaigns

Breast Cancer Campaign is currently involved in a variety of policy areas that impact upon breast cancer research. We also work with a number of different charities and organisations in order to provide a united voice on issues of mutual importance.

Science for Life
It can take up to twenty years for research to evolve from the laboratory to become the treatments we see today. The Science for Life campaign is about ensuring that scientists are sufficiently supported to enable them to carry out ground-breaking research that will benefit patients in the future.

Government support for breast cancer research
The research that charities fund relies on the support provided to universities by the Government through the Charity Research Support Fund. Campaign is working to ensure that this fund is sufficient to support the medical research that charities fund, both now and in the future.

Getting better care for people with breast cancer
Campaign is a steering group member of the Cancer Campaigning Group. This brings together 40 of the UK’s cancer charities to work towards improving cancer policy and services. Campaign has helped to ensure that the Government launched the new Cancer Reform Strategy, and are now working to ensure that its promises will be implemented in full.

Within Scotland, Campaign also contributed to the national discussion that led to the launch of the new Better Cancer Care action plan.

Breast screening
Screening is vital in early detection and prevention of breast cancer. It is estimated that the NHS Breast Screening Programme saves thousands of lives every year. To encourage the provision and take up of this service, Campaign has joined forces with other cancer charities to launch the Screening Matters campaign, which focuses on three major screening programmes including breast screening.
