One of our lovely volunteer groups, Simply the Breast, have taken on a new kind of challenge this year as part of their fundraising and have recently recorded a single– ‘Simply the Breast’. This is their unique take on Tina Turner’s Simply the Best. All profits from the single will go to Breast Cancer Campaign. One of the members Andrea tells us how this became their theme tune.
Dr Geeta Patel’s PhD studentship, funded by Breast Cancer Campaign and supervised by Professor Diana Harcourt at the University of the West of England, is one of very few studies that have looked into the breast cancer experiences of Black and Minority Ethnic women. The Generations Walk was first held in 1998, when 80 people gathered to walk across Hampstead Heath and raise money to fund breast cancer research. Our Chief Executive, Baroness Delyth Morgan, has written a message to everyone who has been part of making the walk such a fantastic success over the years.
My training for the London Marathon is continuing and I have now got some of my biggest runs behind me. Having now done an 18 and a 20 miler, my mileage will now slowly decrease towards the big day. Training, as before, has been plagued with missed runs, illness, and just the general pressures of everyday life getting in the way. Nevertheless, I feel as prepared as I can be, and in some ways, I am excited to embark upon the 26.2 miles once again.
