Understanding how a person’s lifestyle might influence their likelihood of developing breast cancer is critical in understanding how to treat and even prevent the disease.

The best weapon in the fight against breast cancer is the ability to stop the disease occurring in the first place. Breast cancer develops due to a combination of genetics, environmental and lifestyle factors. It is estimated that one in four breast cancers could be avoided by modifying a range of lifestyle factors such as limiting alcohol intake, exercising more and maintaining a healthy bodyweight.

Breast Cancer Campaign is committed to funding prevention research; looking at identifying new risk factors, discovering the genetic causes of the disease and advising people how they can reduce their risk.
