Dirty Sexy Funny star, Olivia Lee, ‘wears it pink’ with 300 Crown Estate construction workers for Breast Cancer Campaign

Today, actress and comedienne, Olivia Lee, joined 300 of The Crown Estate’s construction workers in donning pink hi-visibility vests and pink hard hats for Breast Cancer Campaign’s wear it pink day. The event was led by The Crown Estate, the largest property owner in the West End, and delivered its contractors Lend Lease and Mace.
300 construction workers on The Crown Estate’s Regent Street and St James’s development sites donned their pink outfits to raise awareness and fundraise for wear it pink. Britain’s biggest, pinkest fundraising day is celebrating its 10th anniversary tomorrow (Friday 26 October) and this campaign encourages everyone to wear something pink and donate £2 to help the charity fund vital research into breast cancer. In 2011, hundreds of thousands of supporters from across the UK and Ireland pulled on something pink and raised more than £2.2 million.
Alastair Smart, Head of Development for The Crown Estate commented: “How do you persuade 300 construction workers from Mace and Lend Lease to wear pink on site for the day? First, do it for a great cause like Breast Cancer Campaign’s wear it pink day. And second, invite the glamorous and talented Olivia Lee to visit. We’re really proud that we are able to do our bit for such an important cause. And if the Crown Estate can get 300 construction workers to wear pink on site, then there can be no excuses for anyone else!”
Baroness Delyth Morgan, Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Campaign added: “Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK and sadly one in eight women are diagnosed with the disease each year. Events like our wear it pink day are so important in helping us raise money to fund vital research into breast cancer. Every year we are staggered by the ingenuity of people taking part – and we would like to thank The Crown Estate, Lend Lease and Mace for a truly creative effort.”
The two major West End construction sites are: Eagle Place, just off Piccadilly (formerly known as St James’s Gateway) and Block W4 (163-185 Regent Street).
