Work Capability Assesment
Breast Cancer Campaign Chief Executive, Baroness Delyth Morgan, comments following today’s Government response to the consultation on the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) and the effects of cancer treatment.
“We welcome the Government’s commitment to ease the burden on cancer patients who are trying to access Employment Support Allowance (ESA).
“The proposed changes to the WCA should help to reduce the need for cancer patients to undergo face-to-face assessments whilst going through treatment for and recovering from cancer.
“There is a huge challenge to make sure the benefits of these changes are made a reality for cancer patients going through the system today and Campaign will be monitoring how these changes are implemented.”
