PIP Implants Not Toxic And Not Carcinogenic

Baroness Delyth Morgan, Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Campaign, comments on the final expert report on PIP breast implants from the Department of Health (DoH) which shows that they are not toxic and not carcinogenic.

She said: “While it is reassuring that PIP implants are not associated with a higher risk of breast or other forms of cancer, rupture rates are higher than with other implants and this may cause concern for some women.

“It is vital that women who have had breast cancer are aware of their entitlement when it comes to the removal and replacement of their PIP implants. The Department of Health has stated that every woman who has had breast cancer and has PIP implants will be able to have them removed and replaced without charge.”
