Obesity Linked To Poorer Outcomes In Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer Campaign comments on a study linking obesity to poorer outcomes in breast cancer treatment.

Dr Stuart Griffiths, Head of Commissioned Research, Breast Cancer Campaign said, “The findings from this study provide further evidence that obesity can have a detrimental effect on the prognosis for women with breast cancer.

“Maintaining a healthy weight can reduce the risk of developing breast cancer, particularly after menopause when obesity is an important risk factor. Obesity can also affect the chances of survival for those with the most common type of breast cancer, so it is vital patients are given appropriate support on how to control their weight.”
