We are delighted to announce Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign has raised more than £30 million for two of the UK’s leading breast cancer charities, Breast Cancer Campaign and Breast Cancer Care.
Tickled Pink was launched in 1996 with the aim of raising money for and awareness of breast cancer. The campaign and has grown in support each year thanks to dedicated Asda colleagues, customers and suppliers who give up time to fundraise and generously donate to the cause.
The money raised has transformed the work of both charities, enabling us to fund vital research into breast cancer and support those affected by the disease. Thanks to Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign, Breast Cancer Campaign has been able to fund 79 ground-breaking research projects across the UK, to find ways to diagnose breast cancer earlier, treat it more effectively, improve women’s quality of life and ultimately find a cure.
£3 million from Tickled Pink helped Breast Cancer Campaign to create and develop the UK’s first ever national Breast Cancer Tissue Bank. Asda helped us launch this exciting resource at the start of 2012, which now speeds up research to give women and men better diagnoses, treatments and eventually cures. It allows scientists to study real breast cancer tissue instead of artificially grown breast cancer cells.
